I scrape my mouth ulcer everytime i get one. Its not that bad. It will just hurt for 10sec. Putting salt on my ulcer is even harsher. Salt hurst like a bitch. Just scrape off the pus lightly with ur clean nail or brush.

I just scraped my ulcer, didn't really hurt at all, its way less irritating now though.

I’ve always found the best way to cure the little B*stards, and if you can stand the pain for 30 seconds or so, is putting salt directly onto them. We warned though, your eyes WILL water and the ulcer will sting like a Bee sting! But a few days later they’re gone. It’s like having all the pain of one day in 30 seconds, but what the hell it’s worth it later.

My guess is scraping the ulcer may cause it to bleed, this could promote a more solid covering over the ulcar and reduce the pain by covering the nerve endings.
Just a thought.

Lightly brushing away bacterial exudate sounds like a good idea, scraping sounds a bit harsh.

I’m no expert on scraping - far too painful even to imagine - but wouldn’t it open it up to more infection? Any way I would tell them you are very reluctant to doing this, but talk it through with them some more and find out exactly why they think it’s a good idea.

I would not do it,Terri
it should be healed by that length of time
one time this doctor took a sample of one my mine with a q-tip,I screamed
try to find something to numb it,like magic mouthwash
My appetite is coming back,I had one for over a week, still have it but the pain is gone. What,I really want is a salad

Several people have reported on this site that removing the core of an ”ghit” resulted in faster healing. Somewhat like poping a pimple.

Any thoughts on this? Just over a month ago, I had periodontal work and shortly thereafter developed what he called ”stress ulcers”. I have followed this forum, using 3000 mg Lysine, got the toothpaste that was recommended and use salt daily. I also take a toothbrush and scrape the ulcer which my dentist told me to do. Today he wanted to ”scrape” it down but since I still have mouth pain, the thought of this was devastating. We are waiting 10 days to see if it improves. It started out as several small ulcers but it now one BIG one which he says is getting a bit smaller.
Any opinion on this scraping? I am so very frustrated.
Thanks!
