I have had recurrent mouth ulcers for the last 15 years... anbesol is the best answer I have found and it numbs 100% of pain. It doesnít make them heal any faster but I put it on before any meals and have not pain.

I have suffered from ulcers all my life, it doesn't help I have recently got braces which rub on them even more. I have never found a permanent cure or anything for them and I find things like anbesol which get rid of my ulcers the first time but then the next time I use it on a different ulcer it just numbs it - which I great for making eating and talking bearable - but doesn't get rid of it. I always find that I get them most when I'm stressed however I also occasionally catch myself biting the inside of my mouth and know instantly it's going to turn into an ulcer. If anyone has any help for getting rid of them please let me know

Ok so I used to use anbesol and goddamn don't. It worked and all, but it is so expensive and their are way cheaper things on the market that work as well. I find the walgreens brand, cvs brand work well. I prefer a gel like anbesol, over a paste anyway. hope this saved you some cash. also just know that yes I am only 13 but am a chronic sufferer (probably like 3 years now). hope this helped and you are on the mend

I use Anebesol Adult Strength Gel all the time! Go through tubes of it. For me, it doesnít seem to heal them any quicker but it really numbs them so atleast makes eating bearable. It can hurt quite a bit when you apply it, but itís way better at numbing than anything like bongela or rinstead gel (which I think theyíve stopped making). I remember using the liquid when I was younger but donít think it was nearly as good as the gel. Perhaps the ADULT strength has something to do with it ;-)!!!

I first came across Anbesol for my sons teething, but as the instructions said it could be used on mouth ulcers, I thought that it was worth a try. Unfortunately, I didnít think that it worked very well - but itís just a matter of finding what works for you isnít it?

Itís a great preventative measure Iíve found too. If i bite my mouth or something, which used to guarantee an ulcer, anbesol seems to keep them away.

Anbesol is available over the counter in the UK. I bought some from Boots recently. My husband has recurring mouth ulcers and usually uses Bongela which numbs them for a while. He said that Anbesol works better than Bongela although doesnít cure.

As far as I know it is. Anbesol Adult Strength Gel helps numb the pain a bit. I did use the liquid but canít remember how effective it was.

Someone may have already mentioned this stuff but iíve just used it for the first time. Itís a yellow liquid that comes in a little glass bottle. Youíre supposed to dab it on the ulcer with your finger but i used a cotton bud to make things more hygienic! Iíve been suffering from two weeks of constant attacks and i only used this yesterday. My mouth is ulcer free today. Iím not sure how much is due to my own healing process though as my mouth was already on the mend. There was, however, definitely a new ulcer forming last night and thereís no sign of it today! Whether it helped or not this stuff is definitely brilliant for pain relief and iíd recommend it for that reason alone. Hope it helps somebody.
