I had one ’cauterized’ with a silver nitrate stick at the Dr.’s, it turned it a silver/white color but I think it’s helping the pain alot!

Britney - rinsing your mouth with silver nitrate will not interfere with birth control pills. Topical antibiotics - like creams applied to skin - do not interfere with the pill either. However, if you take oral antibiotics (i.e., actual tablets), use a condom. If you are prescribed a long-ish course of antibiotic tablets, e.g. three months, the doctor will probably tell you that a condom has to be used for the first month or so. This is because of the way oral antibiotics affect stomach and bowel flora - once it has adjusted properly, the hormones contained in the pill are absorbed normally. Occasional rinsing should not give you blue skin:)

Silver nitrate has been used for hundreds of years as you say as an antibiotic. The only thing i’ve really heard about it is that it can sometimes lead to a permanent side effect in that your skin turns silvery blue, yes, i know that sounds like crap but it does happen - albeit rarely....however, give it a try and if it works for ulcers then mebbe blue skin aint such a bad thing.... =)

A friend of mine who owns a herb shop suggested that I rinse my mouth with silver nitrate to help with my mouth ulcers. I am ready to try it but it is supposed to be a ”natural” type of an antibiotic and help balance your body. If regular antibiotics can interfere with birth control pills then couldn’t a ”natural” type also interfere with their effectiveness? Any thoughts?
