do you think Alum will reduce the fleshy tissue in my mouth? I seem to have an excess of flesh inside my mouth/cheeks and am constantly biting the inside of both top and bottom of my mouth when I chew. I am at a loss as to how to decrease the volume of tissue.

I have found this site, in the search for an ulcer my 8yr old has. When I was little and used to get a canker sore, my mom had an "alum stone", she would put on it, and it would take the soreness away, and it would heal.. Now grown with kids of my own, I found Alum ( salty spice used in pickling process) in a jar ( McCormicks spices makes it). Anyway, it is the same thing, white salty, powdery substance. I have used this FOR YEARS when I feel one coming on. It works. I take a q-tip, wet it, dip it in the Alum, then dab onto ulcer, hold it there as long as I can, then spit out. It will make you mouth water like crazy. Within a day or so, it will take the soreness out, and they seem to dry out and go away. I have been using this for over 20 years. I have the same spice jar, a little goes A LONG WAY! Everyone I know, I tell them about it, I have applied it to family members when they have one and come over with one. It somehow seems to make the heal time much faster. I truely hope this helps some of you, they are so painful. I can't seem to reach the one on the back of my sons throat, so he is just gargling now with salt water.
