| Have been suffering for at least 12-13 years, well aslong as i can remember actually!having as many as 5 around my mouth at a time sometimes more then takes it toll and affects day to day living. Have spoke to doctors/dentists and never had any cure that actually worked.Yesterday my Girlfriend found me something that actually works..its called ORAL MEDIC. its basically little cotton buds with some red liquid that you press against the ulcer with the bud, its stings like a bitch! but it has worked..i did this yesterday last night.and there is not a bit of pain....only downfall is that its hard to do it on hard to reach places. |

Hi, Just discovered this site - I am having one on my tongue as I write. My mom told me to use something very old
fashioned on it - It is simple baking soda. Put some in the water and keep it in the mouth for a while. When I am desperate, I actually put some of the powder on the ulcer itself - burns a lot - but it definitely seems to help.
Maybe you can try it and tell me if it helps. It would help also to drink some of the baking soda and water mixture - as I heard that it was excess acid in the stomach that cause some of it.
Tell me what you think.

i know its already been written alot but having suffered from mouth ulcers for over 10 years i have recently been lucky enough to find a 'cure'. basically i gave up all acidic food (primarily tomatoes and oranges). since giving these up after a particularly bad bout 8 months ago i have been fortunate to only have had one outbreak of ulcers. ! obviously this doesnt work for everyone but to those of u who have considered this method but only attempted it 'half-heartedly' id really reccommend it. i too had attempted this in the past but always succomed to my urges for tomato soup and fresh orange juice (believe me, i miss it!). it wasnt until i gave up these kind of foods on a PERMANENT and prolonged basis that i saw results. if im run down or premenstrual i know im still prone to outbreaks but since giving up these food i have been able to reduce these risks.
in treatment of any ulcers id reccommend more 'natural' alternatives such as salt water 3 times a day.
anyway hope this helps someone out there as i feel for anyone with the pain of ulcers! :(
good luck |

Hi
I have been suffering aswell for years with painfull ulcers and it was my dad who also get ulcers told me about ORAL MEDIC and you right it hurts like hell when you put it on but where it works for my dad and gets rid of them i have done it to a few of my ulcers but it only numbs them for the day and then they return |

| Giving up acidic foods is the way my son keeps his mouth ulcers under control too! Also he eats yogurt at least every other day. (one 6oz. container with active cultures is good.) It really works to keep them under control. It is the only thing that has worked for him. It's worth a try! |

| My son has had very bad mouth ulcers for many years and just recently he has had braces applied to his teeth to correct them, which compounded the ulcer problem. The mouth ulcers seem to be hereditary in our family as myself, my son and my sisters have had them also. His ulcers were so bad he could not eat, so in desperation i searched the internet for some help and found this site and could not believe how many people found (L-Lysine) cold sore tablets effective in healing mouth ulcers----The result was two 500mg tablets per day for three days---- ALL MOUTH ULCERS GONE (incredible)---The one we used was (L-Lysine complex) which has a few vitamin additives for maintaining a healthy immune system |

| Hi, I've been getting awful mouth/tongue ulcers for about 16 years, they get so bad I can't eat and they hurt like hell. I've tried all the usual OTC stuff like Anbesol, none of it worked, but my doctor's now given me Corlan pellets which taste gross but really do work well. Having said that, I'm immune to local anaesthetic, hence maybe why Anbesol etc didn't do much... |

THIS IS THE CURE.....
When my sisters & brothers were little, we used to have mouth ulcers all the time. My Nanna from overseas came to stay with us for a while. She treated our mouth ulcer with a pinch of ALLUM POWDER to the sore area. Get ready for major stinging...#*@%+#! BUT after an hour it's healed and you are free from the curse! You can find ALLUM POWDER from any Asian Grocery shops. By the way, salt doesn't work! |

Hi,
I found out a cure doesn't hurt at all keep a big cube of ice in your mouth for around 5 minutes, then take it out wait for your mouth to stop being numb then gargle with salt water for 3 minutes get ready for a little bit of pain then wake-up the next morning with no ulcers and use listerene mouthwash every day and ulcers won't be your problem any more!!!
Hope you try it coz it works like hell

Hey, some good stuff to use is Vegimite, (I think you can only get this in Australia)
You put it on your ulcer and keep your mouth open, it stings a little and makes you drool heaps but it works really well |

Yeah, I tried Oralmedic on an ulcer the size of a crater on my cheek!
It did make my eyes water (but I guess no pain, no gain!)
I had tried Adcortone, Lysine salt on this bugger but didn't see any effects quick enough and it was getting scary big!!!
But I have woken up today and there is no pain and it has gone down quite a bit! |

| Oral Medic was a life saver for me! It hurts, and i MEAN hurts, like hell but then it totally killed mine off. They never hurt again and faded over about 3 days. Hope it helps other people as ulcers were 100% sent by the Devil! |

| Can't praise this OralMedic stuff enough. It's class, sore like a mofo at first but I have never seen anything work so well or kill them so quickly. They're a bit expensive depending on where you get them, but I buy a monthly supply now to keep in the house. They aren't too widely available though, I was actually extolling their virtues at football a few nights ago and a team mate, who is a pharmacist, had ever heard of them. |

Hi this is my first time on the forum - really interesting and so pleased I found it!!! I'm not alone!
I am in absolute agony at the moment, I have 3 on my top gum -(2 by my tooth root and 1 on the inside of my mouth), I can hardly speak and it puts me in a terrible mood! :o( I think mouth ulcers are hereditary, my Dad has always suffered with them, as have I. I often get them around the time of month, or about 5 days after drinking alcohol. They really get me down. I get complimented on my nice healthy teeth, but when I get an ulcer flare up, it feels as though all my teeth are rotten and need to be surgically removed! I think I may give the OralMedic stuff a go, it seems to work for some of you. I hate to take comfort in other's pain, but it really does help to know that others out there are suffering and appreciate what discomfort I am in. When I wake up in the morning, it makes me feel like ringing in sick...! |

| I to have tried Oral Medic and have found this to be the best treatment to date. There are several different companies that sell this treatment. Most one have the two treatments in each box and at about £6.00 it can be costly. There is a treatment that has three treatments in the box. the company is called, Galpharm mouth ulcer treatment. This is distributed by galpharm international ltd. I wouls suggest that people gives this a go. It hurts at first but i usually find that just the one dab with this works unlike the usual pastes that you have to apply four or five times a day. |

I have suffered with bad mouth ulcers since my early teens and im now almost 40 and I still havent found a cure.I can deal with 1 or 2 at a time but on many occasions I have between 20 and 30 at the same time and it is pure hell.Over the counter remedies have no effect so the best ive found so far are corlan pellets and adcortyl paste both prescribed from the doctor but im still looking for anything that does the job quickly.A friend recently said that gargling with a water and peroxide solution was good but I must admit im too afraid to try this.I would love to find a cure for these because my teenage daughter is now suffering with them to.

| At last a forum where I can express my feelings about these blasted mouth ulcers I have suffered with since I was a kid (now 30!), I feel like I have been cursed and have never found anything that really helps, have tried all of the over the counter products but to no avail. I agree that ulcers are herediatry, my dad and brother suffer with them and now my 5 year old son has started to suffer with them. He has been so miserable and quiet, and will not let me put anything on the ulcer. Why have we been cursed with these bloody things???? At the moment, I have two ulcers in my mouth and usually have at least one a month. I thought I got them at times when I was overtired or rundown, but feel good at the moment so that rules that out! Have read all of the messages above and feel great sympathy for everyone on here, the pain I experience is unbearable, feels like my teeth are falling out and like i've lumps in my throat! Will definitely try oral medic as soon as I can find it to buy. |
| Kelly Bristol 5 September 08 |

|
| So glad to have found fellow people talking about this hideous affliction. They are a bloody curse and they make me miserable as sin whenever I have them, which is regularly. I have 2 huge ulcers on my bottom lip at the moment and I can't even drink from a cup without experiencing agony. I've tried bonjela and ambesol but they only give temporary relief from the pain. Corsodyl as a mouthwash has some success but you can't use it daily as it's pretty strong and starts to ruin your taste buds after a while, but I have had good results with Frador. It comes in a little red bottle and you dab it on with a cotton bud. Again, it stings like shit for a minute but then subsides. Takes a few days then to get shot of them. It's not widely available but you can get it from www.allcures.com at about £2.50 a bottle. I think i'll try Oral Medic as well for comparison. |

I've just applied something similar to this Oral Medic, its stuff made by Bonjela, called Bonjela once!
Applied it to this big bugger on the other side of my lip, the size of my thumb nail!!!!
At first all I could thing of was how can something this painful help!!?? I wont lie to you, It hurts like hell!! I'm 22 and suffered from these blasted things since I was about 8 years old, I've tried everything, and some stuff really hurts, but this stuff goes beyond pain!! But then the pain went, really quickly as well, and then there was no pain at all, I've been pain free for about 4 hours now!! I can't believe it!! I will report back on how good this stuff actually is, but if this stuff works and kills ulcers like I'm hoping it will, then I think someone deserves some kind of medal or something for inventing this!!!!! I'll be back to report in a few days..... if anyone is interested.... |
| Ali (in no pain) 29 May 09 |

|
| Yep...I am interested for sure. I've tried so many possible remedies, but after first thinking it's working, they turn out to be ineffective. Now I read there are quite a few people who like this ora medic thing...and you say it's similar to Bonjela. I'll be looking for your report post...hope it works. |

| Just in regards to the Oral Medic, the name is different depending on the country. It's repackaged or whatever. |

hmmmm... have had mouth ulcers on and off all my life and am 50 now. ......, recently found that 'cabbage water' (boiling a cabbage and saving the water) eases pain for small amount of time, so always keep some in the freezer and defrost as soon as i feel one growing in my mouth. i swish it in my mouth and try to hold it over the ulcer, (then spit out!) i do this just before i eat so its not so painful.
....why in this day and age can't someone say what causes them?......! |

| hi ive been using orabase for as long as i remember and i have found that it only numbs the pain upon application. i was wondering if there is anything that stops ulcers from growing big and heals them with immediate effect because orabase doesnt work. (ive also tried salt which not only killed like hell but had the reverse effect) |

| Boots do there own version of bonjela once, have has it on last 20 mins and seems to being to doing a good job this is the first thing I have used that you can actually see working, as mentioned above it does sting but its worth it. I seem to being getting an ulcer in the same place at the back of my tongue which I can safely say is the worse ulcer I seem to get, it hurts to swallow, talk and eating is a no no its horrid but this remedy seems to be helping at the moment. |
| Christopher 13 June 09 |

|
| I got my first ulcer a few months ago. It only got painful 6 weeks ago and ever since after seeing 3 doctors and 2 dentists, nothing I've tried has helped. Now the pain is so intense that I have to take strong subscribed painkillers that make me a half zombie, every 2 hours. Oralmedic is called Boots Mouth Ulcer Treatment in the UK. I'm gonna buy it tomorrow and give it a go as I'm getting desperate and the bloody thing is still growing. It has taken over my life and is ruining my whole being. I can begin to imagine how difficult it must be for those who get them constantly. This is without a doubt the worst ailment I've ever had. I am now like a walking drug store and all of it for nothing, money not well spent !! If something that costs less than a tenner will do the trick, I will be ever so thankfull and gobsmacked why the doctors and dentists around here don't know about this stuff? I shall report in a couple of days what happened... |
| Chris 5 November 09 |

|
OK, it'sd done !! Took double dose of strong Co Codamol and Dromadol before, rinsed with a lot of warm salt water and then numbed it with Bonjela before scraping all the white crust away. There was quite a lot of that as my ulcer is huge, deep and size of 10p coin. Spent 15mim cleaning it with cotton buds (about 20 of them) but did not manage to get absolutely all the white stuff off from the deep folds. Dried it first with cotton wool and the rest with buds. Apllied 2 sticks of acid and immediately the whole ulcer turned into grey ash-like of stuff. I thought 15-20 s is enough and rinsed it with loads of cold water. Now after 20 min there's still a bit of stinging and sort of dull pain left but I'm so happy that something is different after 6 weeks of sheer pain and desperation.
If it's not healed in a few days, I will repeat the treatment. Hopefully I came up with a system so that I can clean it thoroughly. If any reader has got tips, they are more than welcome. I'm just so fed up and tired with the whole thing, was able to sleep only two hours last night and still had a full working day with demonstartions and meetings today :) Bless you all and hope you can find a cure too !! |

| 3 hours on and amazingly for the first time in six weeks I am able to open my mouth without wanting to scream. Still some dark coloured saliva/spit coming out. It might be, that because of the size and depth of my ulcer, I wasn't able to penetrate all the damaged tissue all the way to the healthy part of the mucous membrane of my cheek But the pain has reduced 95%. I just found additional instructions to the ones from Boots Mouth Ulcer Treatment packaging: http://www.oralmedic.co.uk/what_to_expect_when_using_oralmedic.html |

| I'm also relief to know that I'm not alone out there! I've been suffering from canks all my life, but get them more frequently the last couple of years-almost every 2-3 weeks and yes, I get multiple ones at the same time. As I'm writing...I have 1 Big f&@$er on the side of my tongue n the other 2 inside my lip. I've tried almost everything: salt water, abesol, vitamin b12, vitamins d... Today, I think I may of FINALLY found the love of my life- mediccare!!!!!!! I had applied this stuff an hour ago, n I'm still in disbelief that I'm not feelingany pain! That's why I came on the web to read up on what this stuff is all about. No more being depressed n sluring at work... Can't wait til I share this with as many sufferer as possible! :) |

Hi all,
Ok im beyond the amount of pain I can handle. OMG mouth ulcers are by far the worst thing i have ever experienced! HELP ME PLEASE...So 5-6 days ago I woke up with the gum area around my bottom left wisdom tooth inflamed, swollen and paining like hell. This happened to me last year, I went to the hospital because the pain was so bad and the dr told me to dilute hydrogen peroxide and rinse my mouth out with that. Well it did not work this time...I have tried warm salt water, the peroxide rinse, oral gel to numb the area. I went to my dentist this time around and he said the tooth/gum area was infected really bad and perscribed me with antibiotics and a pain killer with an antiinflamatory in it. I have been taking the antibiotics for two days now...there has been no change whatsoever...the pain killers help ALOT but I only get 2.5 hrs of relief at a time and then the pain comes back bigger than ever! When i woke up with the swollen gum area i noticed that i had two HUGE ulcers right next to each other on the back side of my tongue, where my tongue was resting on my infected gum area...so i blamed the uclers on that...however in the matter of two days I have developed 10 more ulcers all around my mouth and the back of my throat! it is currently 3:46 am and i cannot sleep due the racks of pain i am in. I am honesly scared that they will be with me for life now by the way some people on this site are talking...that once they get them they continue for like 20 years or more...i dont think i could live with this for that long!!! does anyone know where to by Oral Medic/boots mouth ulcer treatment/medicare/bonjela once in canada?!?!? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME! =*( I'm only 25 and my whole body is aching, i think its due to clinching from the pain in my sleep! omg help! and my heart goes out to all of you suffering from these evil demons!!!
oh p.s my tongue is white as well and i have like a metallic order and taste in my mouth! someone scared me on this site saying it could be HPV?? wth?? please tell me it is not that! thanks |

correction! I meant Oral medic, not medic care. Oral medic hurts like hell to put on, but i thought it really worked when I wrote last. The pain relief was instant! But a few days later, the pain came back from the big one I had in the back- side of my tongue. By that point, I was affraid to reapply the second time on the same spot, cause a) it really really hurts to apply & b) I was thinking: this stuff just can't b good for u...
Yes, once u get them, they'll always come back! But, I had never had 10/20 of them at the same time like some of u may b experiencing. White tongue... Ummm u may want to check out it out with a doctor! Oralmedic is sold here (Toronto) in shoppers drug mart- it's over the counter with no prescription required. I just started seeing a homopatic doctor recently, she said the cause of canks are un balanced immune system. I continue to take vitamins d, b12, a multi, n probiotics. In addition, I'm also trying to minimize nightshade veggies... Not all of u may b experiencing the same thing as I'm, but i strongly recommend for u to check out a homopath doctor to learn how to provent it from within rather than just supressing the issue. Good luck with u all.... Will continue to give u updates to my condition n please share yours.

check out your toothpaste guys.. after years ( YEARS ) of suffering, I have made great inroads ( still get some,, but not as many) by changing to sensodyne ORIGINAL ( not the others) or Corsodyl toothpaste, and stepping away from ALL mouthwashes. I got the idea after I read a blog about a cat who got ulcers if it's bowl was washed in the dishwasher. I think it's the sodium Lauryl Sulphate. anyway, If I so much as use normal toothpaste ONCE, then loads of ulcers,- I loved adcortydl and I find corlan pellets help for the excruciating ones on the tongue, but not the others.
It's hell, and I clench my jaws through agony, and then... Jaw ache on top of it all. I heard that it was caused by not being able to say something, and that thing literally eating away at you... I think there may be something to this idea. I recently voiced a very unpalatable truth, and my ulcers cleared up that day. ( got more now though) God bless us all! |

hi from Australia, I found this site a couple of days ago when I thought I was going crazy with the severe pain in my mouth from bloody ulcers. I didn't really think I had anything to contribute until today but I think I found a cure.
I have suffered from cold sores for as long as I can remember and have been taking lysine to try and prevent an outbreak with very little luck. A couple of months ago I swapped brands of lysine and got a brand that also had zinc in it as I was told this was good for healing and your skin. I've not had a cold sore since which is fantastic however I have now been blessed with ulcers, always on the tip of my tongue and always 5-10 at a time the pain was enough to make me cry and send me to bed I felt like my teeth were lose and going to fall out. And as soon as it seemed one ulcer healed another appeared or they seemed to move to a different spot on my tongue. I'm not saying that the lysine has caused the ulcers but I think I have some weakness on my tongue probably caused by biting it in my sleep.
ANYWAY the good news is I have been swirling vitamin B liquid in my mouth once a day to decrease my stress levels (I don't feel stressed but I thought it couldn't hurt) and also have gone back to taking regular doses of colloidal silver. I often take colloidal silver for throat infections or sinus infections.
I've been taking about 10mls at a time about 5 times a day, holding it in my mouth for a minute then swallowing. In less than 2 days the pesky mouth ulcers have gone I'm hoping for good but at least for now I feel normal and enjoyed my dinner tonight.
I can say that I have gone from not being able to talk and being in an incredible amount of pain to not believing I have found something that works so quickly. In 2 days my 6 ulcers have disappeared and my tongue feels new and smooth. Colloidal silver is available in health food shops here in Australia I've done a little research and theres a lot of research saying that colloidal silver will cure mouth ulcers within 24 - 48 hours. Wish I'd researched this earlier.
Sorry for the long blurb however I really wanted to share my whole story. I will report back in a couple of days I really hope that I help at least one suffer.

OK, I've had ulcers before, the odd one here and there but 6 weeks ago my life changed, from the first 8 on my top gum, that grew within 2 weeks, to over 35 mainly on my tonsils and roof of mouth... Ivé tried everything, the gels are useless, lozenges useless, sprays useless, I was on a steady diet of painkillers and difflam (which gives some relief), then after 2 weeks of not eating or sleeping, I went back to the docs, this time he gave me vit B compound(14 days worth) and penicillin (only 5 days worth) after the five days was over, I must admit 95% had gone... that was last Saturday... But today, I have 25 new ones, on my upper lip, lower lip, back of my teeth and a few on my tonsils.... does anything actually work?? I was trying oraldene over the last 5 days that did nothing, so now I've picked up some corlan pellets hopefully they do something... but tomorrow I am going back to the docs and gonna try and get referred to a department where somebody may actually have a clue, wish me luck!!
If I learn anything that may help anyone one here, I will let ya all know!

I completely agree with Lulu. I had ulcers for years and found that once I removed Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, I haven't had ulcers since. I use AloeDent Toothpaste, which available in a variety of kinds and are available both online and in most health stores.

To Ryan:
you poor sod. I am a doctor. I wonder whether your problem lies with stress.
Try the following: end all your medications (you've been taking a lot of shit).
Instead - drink lots of water. Try your best to relax -take a holiday if necessary (no joke).
If there are any signs of stress or worry, drink a beer, put your feet up.
Do regular exercise, keep muscles stretched. Bad posture or cramped muscles result in stress.
And remember: stress = low immune system = ulcers!
Let me know how youy get on.

My dad has the same symtoms as you, going on 3 mths with no let up on ulcers, appearing in batches of 15-20 daily. He has been referred from one idiot to the next, with no results, and is going out of his mind. I am really hoping you got some relief or answers? |
