i get small sores in my mouth and vaseline heals it within an hour. I put a tiny dab on the sores and it stops the pain and clears it completely. Do not swallow it or drink anything while it is on. I get the sores and cuts from Suboxone sublingually under my tongue.

I recently felt a canker sore/mouth ulcer beginning to develop on my lower lip. I'm pretty sure it was caused by me having too much salty popcorn. My son has been praising petroleum jelly (Vaseline) as a good treatment for cracked skin around nails, and there have been a few posts on this board about using petroleum jelly for the mouth sores. So I gave the sore a gentle abrasion with my toothbrush, then dried it thoroughly with my shirt-sleeve and rubbed a layer of petroleum jelly over the sore. I did this several times and although there was still a swelling at the site, the sore never seemed to develop completely, and certainly wasn't especially painful. I'd say the treatment is probably good for anywhere in the mouth except perhaps the tongue and the floor of the mouth under the tongue.
