Thanks RDH - There you have it folks, that's what we're up against "there are no medications that work" ... so you can just give up, or read through the messages, try the different things that people have found works for them, be thorough and be methodical in your search, you can beat the ulcers.

I am a Dental hygienist. Herpes can never be on what we call unattached tissue. Unless it's a primary outbreak. So if you have had lesions under your tongue on separate occasions most likely they are canker sores are apthious lesions which are the same thing. Canker sores are not contagious. I have seen that strong foods like pineapples, strong toothpastes like Crest Pro Health will make them more chronic. Unfortunately there are no medications that work. Doctors will only treat large canker sores by burning them to make the cycle shorter or with steroids but they generally have to run there course. Don't hate me but warm salt water is about all you're going to be able to do to help your recovery.

Right this moment i am in so much pain, with ulcers under my tongue and on floor of mouth under tongue. I cant eat and lose alot of weight when i have a bout of ulcers. I have had this bout since 3rd February, the ulcer erupts then heal then moves to another place in mouth. Its so depressing. I have had blood tests etc but no doctor can help and they say all blood tests are normal. I definitely cannot eat chocolate or drink coffee, tea seems to soothe (not too hot).
It feels like you are the only one with the ulcers at the time of having them and they can almost drive you mad with the pain, so im so pleased to have found this website which has made me realise im not the only one!
GOD IM IN SOOOO MUCH PAIN 19 February 08
I have the same thing. I get them before my period or around ovulation. I have those little blisters that pop up like you would have on the outside of your mouth only they are inside. Sometimes i get little white bumps scattered around the mouth where the big whopper is about to land. Right now i have this burning gum and some white little suckers coming up and irritating everything. I dont' know what to do for it either. I have been trying folic acid, and b vitamins but i do have a very similar thing and I thought I had an autoimmune thing too. very scary.

I have had cankers (cheeks, lips, etc) since I was a kid. I am 25 now.

I have had a lot more in the past few years than I used to, but I have also been getting.... herpes (?) outbreaks intraorally. Big painless bumps (vesicles?) that seem to deflate, then I get a metallic taste in my mouth, and the bump turns into a painful crater, looks just like the pics I've seen online of intraoral herpes. Usually gone in 4-7 days. Painfull as can be.

I have 3 right now- I am beginning my menstrual cycle AND getting over the flu... and needless to say stressed out. I seem to get these roof of the mouth sores when stressed, sick, or about to start a period.

When I look it up online though, it seems to state how RARE intraoral herpes is and suggests an immune system problem, hiv or something. It's scary.

Anyone else experience this? I am beginning to feel a little bit crazy over the pain and frustration!
