My 13 year old daughter has complained of a very painful mouth on both sides of her upper and lower outside gums plus under her tongue. She did have a severe case of gingivitis but that appears to be clearing up. She has several white thin blisters in all of these locations. Is this normal for mouth ulcers? We would like to know. Thank you.

when i was a young girl i used to get mouth ulcers and my aunt told me that if you kiss a womans bare thigh the ulcers will go away. i rember kissing her thigh, and it worked. the next day they had started to heal.

what i am talking about is a old tradition from spain, i think. the smooth flesh of the thigh removes any evil from the childs body. i think that the child kisses his/her aunts thigh when they visit and there mothers thigh when they return. i rember seeing this when i was in spain, a youg boy in are hotel got on his knees, his mother put her leg forward and lifted up her skirt to expose her thigh, then the boy kissed it and walked away. i rember the mother saying something after, but i dont speak spanish. it does show the power of the mind, if it worked on me.

i have just rememberd that my aunt used to have me rub evening primrose oil into her legs. i can still remember the taste it left in my mouth after i had been kissing her bare thighs, witch i did every time i got an ulcer. maybe it was the healing properties of the oil that helped ?

Just been into this site for the first time. Just got my first bout of ulcers, 2 of them, one under my tongue and the other inside my lip. Firstly just wanted to sympathise with all you people who have had them for years, how the hell do you cope??? I, ve had these now for 4 weeks and I,am at the end of my tether. I love and adore my food and these ghastly ulcers have caused me more misery than i have ever experienced in my life. Do antibiotics work?? Anyway this is my first experience and hope its my last. Iíll always share a thought for those constant sufferers. Nick

Every one reacts differenly to every ĒfixĒ thatís offered on the market. What works for one case may not work for the next. Iíve had these mouth sores for about 6 months. They move around from place to place. If one heals, thereís another to take itís place in a different location. Iíve tried Rincinol, Debacterol, a concoction my dentist had made up for me, all kine stuff. None of them made it better, some made it much worse. Lydocaine, applied with my (clean) finger rather than swishing it and gagging, seems to numb my mouth better than anything else so far. I also use a steroid rinse and spit. It soothes my mouth, once the burning stops, for about an hour or so. Fast acting Tylenol is my friend and Iím searching for a way not to bite my tongue, as itís wider than it should be due to the sores on both sides and underneath it. As my mom says, Ēat least itís not your liver.Ē I keep losing weight, as after 5 or 6 bites it hurts too bad to eat any more. I know this probably sounds familiar to a lot of you.

I never thought there would be so many people that suffer from mouth ulcers too.
I only just started to get them and it has been after an operation where I had a general anaesthetic and had a rubber piece placed in my mouth,I wondered if it was a cause.(infection?)
Also I have heavy continuous bleeding after having a hormone-IUD placed inside and I wondered if low iron was also a possible cause, as my immune system felt very low also.
I use tea-tree oil dabbed onto the ulcer and it helps a bit, but I will try lysine since it seems to help heaps of sufferers. Also eating olives seem to instigate the ulcers the first time I got them. I love olives!!Im sure coffe agrivates them too. OUCH!!!

this may be a stretch..but all of you guys sound as if you are from England. My folks are British, even my sister. I am first generation American and I donít know of anyone that has mouth ulcers like i do. Currently, I have about five living in my throat so it feels as if I have strep throat. Couple more on my cheeks(those i tolerate w/out a problem)..oh, when i say cheeks I mean the inside of my mouth..Didnít know if this was something in our genetic makeup or perhaps you guys were just smart enough to start a message board first? As far as other symptoms Bethany, I currently have a fever and massive headaches. Iím lucky enough to have a bacterial and viral infection at the same time. Hurray me!

After looking at a number of medical sites concerning mouth ulcers iíve gathered a decent number of possible medical causes- Among the list is deficiencies in Folate (folic acid), iron, Vitamin B complex (1, 2,6,12 etc), high stress, Ph imbalance in the mouth and stress. There are other things considered possible precursors including viral and bacterial infections. The solutions proposed have ranged from vitamin supplements, gargle saltwater, chew antacid tablets (combats a Ph imbalance), triamcinolone acetonide (which has worked well for me) and others. webmd.com or wikipedia has some interesting infomation. Hope this helps as i noticed alot of posts asking about possible causes.

Hi, wow I didnt know this site existed, I too get awful mouth ulcers! I have just had various blood tests done and all came back fine. I had a swab taken today which was gross but at least the doctor is trying to find something! i find all the creams etc are pretty rubbish, they temporarily numb them but thats about it! I read that eating pineapple helps so im on my second one in 2 days! Also grapefruit juice is suppose to kill them
but it really stings when your drinking it so I only drink it when im in loads of pain!
Paula 12 June 07
I had one of the worst outbreaks in my life on my first visit to Hawaii with all of the
fresh pineapple! I stay away from it and too much citrus fruit/juice as this will also
cause an outbreak for me.

Well very painfull as we all know , just thought i would contribute and maybee help someone --- I have found that drinking a cup of milk every couple of hours --swilling your mouth with milk keeps the acid down ---it certainly helps me ---the other thing you might want to try is Manuka Honey ---a friend of mine had a mouthfull of really bad ulcers and suffered badly --- but Manuka Honey got rid of them all -- i am about to try it myself -- so good luck to everyone ----Tony
