Recurring mouth ulcers... In the same spot!!

33 messages in this subject.

Hi guys! Iím new to this board as I just stumbled across it in doing some research into why I keep getting mouth ulcers. This problem has only been happening chronically for about the last 8 months, however, I have been prone to mouth ulcers occasionally throughout my life (Iím 27). I havenít done anything different to trigger this that I can think of. (IE: I havenít changed toothpastes, quit smoking or changed my diet). Iíve finally gotten to a point where I am sick of this happening and Iíve decided to try and combat it. Hence my reason for being here. After reading several other posts and suggestions here, I have a few things that I am going to try. The first is to switch to a toothpaste that does NOT contain SLS. My question, however, is ĒDoes anyone know why mouth ulcers continually occur in the same spot?Ē. I tend to get outbreaks every 4 to 6 weeks and usually 2 to 3 ulcers at a time, most of them occur in various places (under the toungue, roof of the mouth, etc). However, the is one that I have on the inside lower lip, at the front and slightly to the left. This particular ulcer will heal and then re-appear in EXACTLY the same spot a few weeks later! I donít have any sharp teeth there that could be irritating the skin and itís in a very hard place to bite (if I was to be biting in my sleep). Any ideas why this one keeps poppping up in this same spot?

At last after months of suffering with reoccurring sores I have found an aid. It doesn't stop them coming but once you feel it start you take these harmless pills and it stops the regular 10 day cycle. The first and only thing that ever worked for me. I' wouldn't be without the pills. It is called canker cure and you can find it on line.
Let me know how you all do.

I have ended up here as well, looking for answers to the same question - why do I get them and why always in the same spot?!! I've been told there is something you can ask your doc for a prescription for - I just got it filled - it's called Magic Mouthwash and it's a compound, which means the pharmacy has to mix it up per the doctor's instructions. I learned that my insurance doesn't cover compounds, which seems dumb to me. This is a medical issue and very painful, as you all know, so it should be covered. I think I may be getting these as a side effect of Rituxan (chemo drug) Infusion therapy for severe R.A., but not 100% sure. The timing would make sense. I had to cover the cost - it was about $35 and it's for 5 days of use (twice daily). I've only had one dose so far, burning can tell you it numbs your entire mouth. Has anyone ever tried 'breaking it open'? I was wondering what would happen if you did. Thanks.

I am 61 and have had these sites in my mouth off and on for
30 years or so. I was diagnosed with crohns about 8 years ago.
My crohns issues were at the illeum. Castro folks had pictures of
Illleum. Illleum sores looked identical to sores in my mouth.
Was treated for crohns. Stopped treatment because of cost at over $600
Per month. Have been on vitamin b12 and d3. I think the vutamins
Worked better than expensive drugs. Still not perfect though.
Most of the time when I have mouth sores my scal also has sores

I have mouth ulcers at the roof of my mouth for 6 months, exactly in the same spot and the worst thing is it comes back every 3 DAYS. I tried so many things (antibiotics, mouth wash, vitamins of all sorts). Nothing works. But I realized that hot foods do make the problems worse. Is there anyone that tried something actually works. Thanks a lot

ORAL HERPES reappears in the same spot and comes out more often than not when you're under stress. I have it on the side of my tongue...comes back every few months.

I have been plagued with ulcers as long as I can remember and I am 72.
I have tried everything mentioned by all the other sufferers. Salt water gives
Temporary pain relief as does L-Lysine ointment. Taking 1500 mg of L-Lysine
During breakouts seems to shorten time as does Valtrex. I usually have more than
One at a time but lately it has occurred on the left side of my tongue and makes
the left side of my throat sore. Believe it or not but mine seem to really get worse
After I quit smoking about 30-35 years ago. I feel your pain!

Hey guys I album 16 years old and have been doing the same research as everyone else. I get awful kanker sores all the time, and I think I have them more often than I don't. I have a few suggestions for everyone that have helped me. The first is a spice called allumn. It can be bought at Walmart I think, and if you just put a little on your sore a few times it helps a lot. It makes your mouth go all wierd and dry u till you rinse it out with water though. The BEST advice I can give has literally saved me a few times and they are absolutely amazing. They are called Kanker Covers, and they are little sold pills the size of an aspirin that you place directly on your sore, and within about an hour it completely transforms into a gel patch that covers your kanker and completely relived the pain. Not only does it relive you for 24 hours, but usually the next day or two it is gone! Healed! They take some getting used to, as ignoring is not comfortable to have an alianable object In your mouth for a day, but I promise it's so so worth it. That's my advice, and best of luck

I have been plagued with these canker sores in my mouth for years now. its an immune system deficiency in my case and can be linked to many other things none of them cancer so try not to worry. Extremely painfull. If these ulcers heal through time and recur then its not cancerous . Extremely painfull and no way of getting rid of them there is no cure . I am prescribed steroid creams and tablets to place on the sore which may or may not eleviate the pain but that's about it . Sorry folks

I have had the same spot reappear in my mouth in the exact same place, the side of my mouth. It seems to appear when I eat something I think it's when I eat hot food. I am 22 and it has just started happening recently I have been diagnosed with anxioty and thought it was all stress related but when it goes away I might go out and have a drink and then they come back I feel like I'm waiting around for some thing to go away that isnt. Any advise?

Hi everyone. I've had mouth ulcers on and off my entire life, until I came across a comment about SLS (sodium lauryl sulphate) on a message board. SLS is used as a foaming agent in most brands of toothpaste. I switched to one that doesn't contain it and I HAVEN'T HAD ONE SINCE. YAY! If you get mouth ulcers this should be the first thing you try. I am so happy I don't get them any more, I really hope this works for you!
(by the way I am soooo grateful to whoever posted that comment!)
Avoid SLS in toothpaste!! 18 October 16

Have a reoccurring ulcer at same spot in mouth. It heals in 1-2 days but recoccurs after one day at same spot. Have showed to four doctors, still no relief. Have it since last 4 months. Just started Glutam 15 mg ( kind of glutamine), still to get any better.
Don't know what to do.anybody having any suggestions

Almost definitely related to food sensitivities. High citrus fruits, spicy foods, gluten, dairy, everybody is different and what you need to do is try an elimination diet. Cured myself with an elim diet. Seems like gluten, high citrus fruits do it for me.

Hi people! I have been getting blood blisters on the side of my tongue for the last 6 months. they are very annoying, but they don't burn.
I would love to know if there is any connection between these and juvenile diabetes.

IGLu works a treat. I am 49, have almost never got a mouth without an ulcer... I can always search around with my tongue and find one. sometimes they are roasters and huge when I am under stress but rarely do I have a mouth without them. I dont smoke, dont know whayt, but ever since i was a child this has been the case.

as you can imagine i have tried everything, bansor (very tasty but utterly ineffective), bonjela, bonjela complete, orabase, orabase with additive, etc. etc. lost count. most recently i told about iglu. i tried it recently on a roaster. BRILLIANT. put it on at night or during the day and the roaster is all but gone. i dont recommend this lightly. basically it does what i have been looking for my whole life.. it stops the ulcer in its tracks, even when it is inflamed and angry and within a couple of days , its dieing off.

Hi everyone,I have the worst case .I have been suffering my recurrent mouth sores for many years. Before it keeps coming for like two weeks then now I have it everyday.after it healed it appears to other part again then after it heals to other part, so it's like I have it everyday. I'm so sick and tired about this.I sometimes cried why always have these sores.huhuhuhu I feel like I wanna die.

I haven't had one on my tongue or cheek or anything recently but I have had one on the back right side of my throat. It healed for a long time, however, after a bout of bad heartburn I have another one, and it's in the same spot, and the roof of my mouth seems it's getting some also.
