Why do ulcers sting more at night?

I have one from my canine tooth rubbing against the inside of my mouth funny. Think these treatments would work the same?

i tend to get mouth ulcers if I end up biting the inside of my mouth or if I'm vitamin b12 and zinc deficient. They tend to last for about 7 days and the pain is intense and find brushing my teeth very difficult when the tooth paste foams in the mouth. Treatments im using currently is aloe Vera gel... It helps ease pain but its not a cure. Oragel and Adcortyl in oralbase paste are also fantastic forms of treatment available from your local chemist. Hope this helps

Which Rembrandt toothpaste is it La Girl, is this one you mention Sodium Laurate Sulphate free, as there as so many Rembrandt toothpastes on the market, thanks for the input and please let us all know which one you speak about.
I use Sensodyne SLS free but would like a whitening one if SLS free.

sensitivity to pain generally increases as the day goes on (due to hormonal changes, e.g. lower cortisol levels in bloodstream in evening that in morning and various others) although the mouth ulcer(s) I have at the moment certainly seem to hurt a lot first thing..once I am up and breakfasted they don't hurt nearly so much

Iím so glad iíve found this page. I get mouth ulcers at least every month. Iíve got one at the moment inside my bottom lip. It hurts to smile, i canít eat properly, even talking hurts. Iím going to try this Lysine that everyoneís raving about. Anything has to be better than this. I find mine are most painful on a morning when iíve just woken then get worse again at night before i go to bed. My auntie is prone to them too which makes me believe the heredatory theory.

My 14year daughter has suffered for at least 8 years, but the last 2 years have been awful, she has multiple ulcers leaving her unable to talk, eat or drink for days at a time. she becomes so unwell that she misses days at a time off school. all investigations by doctors show no cause. After reading this site we have started a regime of lysine and use Squiggle toothpaste exclusivly and fingers crossed no major ulcers for 3 weeks (and that is the best its been for a long time). Ulcers are definatly worse in the morning.

I use Doxycycline for my ulcers have a small tablet that i dissolve in warm water and use as a mouth wash which i then spit out. If they are caught right at the beginning it sometimes works. Also a spray called Difflam works as a pain relief but not for long, good if you want to eat a meal as doesnt numb the tounge as some mouth washes do.

Probably due to a build of saliva and germs through daytime eating etc. Have you tried Corsodyl mouth wash after mealtimes (not after brushing teeth). Its not a cure but it helps to numb the pain for a couple of hours.

they do donít they? or is it just me...mine are often reasonably numb in the morning but by the evening if Iím having a bad attack I can hardly speak. Horrible things. I sympathise with everyone on here, some of you are suffering so badly that you make my ulcer attacks pale into insignificance in comparison.

I wonder why there isnít a better cure? Whatís the big deal with these things? I was on a low dose antibiotic called Doxycycline for a few months a couple of years ago for acne and I didnít have a single ulcer during the whole time I was taking them. When I came off them the acne stayed away but the ulcers came back. Perhaps an oral doxycycline solution would work.
